2024: Year of Democracy

Are Big Tech companies ready for the global election tsunami? With more than 2 billion people set to cast their ballot in over 65 elections spanning the globe, 2024 will be the most consequential election year this century.

But the spread of online disinformation, hate speech, abuse and manipulation is threatening democracy and freedomgs everywhere. In their #YearofDemocracy campaign the Global Coalition for Tech Justice is pushing Meta, Google, YouTube, X/Twitter and TikTok to protect people and elections in global majority countries.
