Ruom Collective members are based in Bangkok (Thailand) and Phnom Penh (Cambodia). We share a passion for visual storytelling coupled with a range of expertise - from filmmaking to art direction to investigative journalism - that allow us to produce high-quality material, tailored to the needs of our clients.

  • Nicolas Axelrod

    Nick is a filmmaker and photographer specialising in documenting the impacts of development on local communities and the environment. He is a founding member of Ruom and has been based in Asia since 2008.

    Nick has worked for a number of international humanitarian organizations such as UNICEF, Human Rights Watch, and Amnesty International. His journalistic work has been published in The New York Times, The Guardian, Time Magazine amongst others. He has produced video content for clients such as National Geographic, CNN, Netflix, HBO, NBC, ABC and more.

    Nick is fluent in English and French.

    He is based in Bangkok, Thailand.

  • Thomas Cristofoletti

    Thomas has been working in Southeast Asia as a documentary filmmaker and photographer since 2012. He is a founding member of Ruom.

    Thomas is especially passionate about climate change and his long-term project focuses on the effects of development on the Mekong region. His work has been published in international outlets such as The New York Times, The Guardian, Der Spiegel, The BBC, and The South China Morning Post. His videos and photos have been featured in campaigns for international NGOs such as USAID, WWF, The Obama Foundation, and UNICEF.

    He’s fluent in English, Italian and Spanish.

    He is based in Bangkok, Thailand.

  • Marta Kasztelan

    Marta is a producer and independent journalist focusing on radical groups, human rights and environmental issues in Asia and Europe.

    Marta has spent the last eight years bringing under-the-radar stories to global news outlets, including The Guardian, Foreign Policy, LA Times, POLITICO and Al Jazeera. She has spearheaded documentary film projects for The Guardian, Al Jazeera, VICE, YouTube Originals, Singapore's flagship broadcaster CNA and for NGOs around the world.

    Marta is bilingual, fluent in English and Polish, with very strong French and German.

    She is based in Poland and Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

  • Mailee Osten-Tan

    Mailee is a multimedia journalist whose work often focuses on human-led storytelling that intersects with gender and minority issues.

    Mailee’s reporting has been commissioned by CNN, Longreads, South China Morning Post, Al Jazeera, and VICE World News. As a stringer for Getty Images and freelance photojournalist, her work has appeared in The New York Times, Der Spiegel, NBC News, and elsewhere. She is also a video producer for NGOs, with clients including UNDP, ADB, WHO, UN Women, FHI360 and others.

    Mailee speaks English and conversational German.

    She is based in Bangkok, Thailand.

  • Andy Ball

    Andy is a documentary filmmaker who is interested in stories that revolve around the cross-section between society and the environment.

    He's worked on documentaries for the BBC, CBS, South China Morning Post, Insider and Mongabay. He's also regularly collaborates on video projects with international non-governmental organisations.

    Andy is fluent in English and speaks Khmer to an intermediate level.

    He is based in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

  • Emilie Languedoc

    Emilie is a multimedia designer specializing in data visualization, motion graphics, graphic design, animated maps, and art direction. She largely focuses on environmental issues, social equity, human rights, and the pursuit of social justice in Southeast Asia.

    Emilie has worked with The Pulitzer Center, Mongabay, The Global Coalition for Tech Justice/Digital Action, WHO, HaRDstories, Kamnotra (Cambodian Centre Independent Media), Be Slavery Free, Southeast Asia Globe and others.

    Emilie speaks French and English, with conversational Khmer and elementary Bahasa Indonesia.

    She is based in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

  • Robin Narciso

    Over the past ten years, Robin has specialized in the production of films investigating humanitarian, development, and environmental issues as an award-winning filmmaker.

    Between 2020 and 2023 his short documentary and fiction films have been featured at several film festivals, and were recipients of the Raoul Wallenberg Pacific Award for Human Rights at the Minikino Film Festival in Bali. His commissioned work includes clients from the humanitarian industry (ILO, WWF, Oxfam), academia (Royal Holloway University of London, Future Forum), and the commercial sector.

    Robin is fluent in English, Italian, and Spanish.

    He is based in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

  • Seng Phi

    Phi is a Cambodian film producer and fixer. Her goal is to contribute to the growth of the local film industry by working on projects focusing on the humanities and social impact.

    She has been active since 2019 and involved in a diverse range of productions. She has recently worked for the BBC, as well as international NGOs such as GIZ, NGO-Cedaw, and ILO. Her work has also been featured at the Cambodian International Film Festival and other local film competitions.

    Phi is bilingual and fluent in Khmer and English.

    Phi is based in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
