When Women Lead

On International Women’s Day, UN Women’s Regional Office for Asia-Pacific and UNDRR’s Women’s International Network on Disaster Risk Reduction co-hosted a virtual event highlighting the need for women’s leadership in COVID-19 recovery, and recognising the women who have played an essential role in their country’s COVID-19 response.

For the lead up of International Women’s Day 2021, UN Women’s Regional Office for Asia-Pacific commissioned a series of videos looking at women in leadership in Thailand and the Southeast Asia region. These videos featured prominent women leaders and change-makers such as Ploy Scott (Thai National Freediving record holder), Kotch Voraakhom (Award-winning landscape architect), Cindy Bishop (TV personality and UN Women Goodwill Ambassador for Asia and the Pacific), Ploy Phutpheng (Photographer) and Garima Arora (Michelin Star Chef).
